Doubting Gravity is a pop-rock foursome out of Portland, Maine. They found a niche for themselves through dynamically charged grooves and easily relateable lyrics. Taking the helm is Andi Fawcett on lead vocals and rhythm guitar. As a student of the Ani Difranco philosophy of driving guitar with emotional lyrical content, Fawcett has come a long way in her songwriting, which is evident in this debut ep. She has entrusted the construction of each tune's core in the hands of Dave Henault on drums, Josh Prescott on bass, and Mike Allen on lead guitar and vox. Combined, the four manage to press the boundaries of pop rock with a grittier, almost 90's alternative rock feel. Henault and Prescott provide intricately crafted rhythms that lend perfectly to Fawcett's writing. Allen, the newest addition, has begun to bring his own flare to the table, with clever riffs and mammoth guitar solos (to be unveiled on their upcoming release). All in all, if you're looking for a pop record that is a stretch from your typical pop record expectation, then this ep has your name on it.
