简介

Home Full of Ghosts is an album full of haunting melodies about love and life. Recorded in his basement and subsequently professionally mixed and mastered, Alex Andrew’s first official album boasts an understanding of a young man’s teenage experiences and angst. The entirety of the album was performed and recorded by Alex Andrew himself, with the exception of the violin on tracks 2, 6, and 8, which was performed by Annie Therrien Boulos. Mixed by Alex Andrew and John Franco. Mastered by John Franco of SoulKraft Sound. “I chose the title “Home Full of Ghosts” for the album because I wanted to choose something that reflect the way I felt about the songs. I’m 21 now, releasing this album, but most of the songs were written when I was about 17 years old. Most of the songs by this time are about girls whose memories are more like ghosts now than anything else because I don’t really feel the same as I used to about them. At the same time, those experiences helped shape me into who I am today, so this collection of songs is sort of like me today: a Home Full of Ghosts. At the same time, I find that when I listen to an album I can really relate to, I kind of find a comfort in it, and this album has a kind of haunted sound to it. So I guess I’m hoping that others will be able to experience that same sort of comfort while listening to these songs and find a Home Full of Ghosts in it.” --Alex Andrew BIO: Alex Andrew is an up and coming singer/songwriter from Vancouver, B.C. From a young age, Alex found a home in music. Beginning by playing the piano, his passion evolved into the playing of a variety of instruments including the drums, vocals, guitar, bass guitar, harmonica, trumpet, and the piano itself. Early on in his life, he played the drums in a four-piece band by the name of The Dazed. The band became locally popular with its catchy Classic Rock/Blues/Funk style, but Alex found he was always missing something. Alex had always had continuous thoughts of writing his own music on guitar, and when the band broke up in 2006, he then decided to focus his musical career on his own style, which was influenced by the music of City and Colour, The Spill Canvas, early John Mayer, Matthew Good, and Brand New. In May of 2007, Alex released a homemade 5-song EP entitled "Alex Andrew". By releasing the EP, Alex achieved his first milestone and positive feedback as a solo artist, and in December of the same year, he released a holiday EP entitled Lights. Since then, Alex has written over 45 heartfelt songs and recorded a new 9-song album entitled Home Full of Ghosts. No matter why or when the songs were written, his brutally honest lyrics spill forth from the soul of a young man and his experiences in love, sex, and friendship. From the most arrogant of days to the most insecure, the highest of highs to the most pathetic lows, the sting of faithlessness to the leaving of loyalty, it's easy to find something in his music to relate to. In July of 2009, locally established artist Adam Nanji, lifetime friend of Alex and fellow former-member of The Dazed, contacted Alex and invited him to play drums as a part of his band at The Railway Club in Vancouver. Adam also invited Andrea Lo to play the keyboard alongside him at the show, and this turned out to be the beginning of The Belle Game. After the first show, the trio decided to alter the instrumental line-up so that Alex would play guitar as well, and they began to focus their music on vocal melodies and three part harmonies. Since then, The Belle Game has recorded an EP entitled Inventing Letters and it has since been released on iTunes. Today, Alex continues writing and recording as an independent artist, but the focus of his music has shifted to that of being the rhythm guitarist and back-up vocalist in The Belle Game. He states that he will continue to release the odd solo EP every now and then, but until then, check out The Belle Game on their myspace.
