EDEN KAI is a singer-songwriter, acoustic guitar and ukulele player, composer, and actor. Born in Tokyo, Japan and currently residing in Honolulu, Hawai’i, Eden started playing the acoustic guitar five years ago and ukulele three years ago teaching himself by watching YouTube videos, developing his own style, and composing over 100 songs to become a guitar and ukulele virtuoso at the age of 16. Eden has worked hard to prepare himself for a career in music and entertainment. From an early age, he started studying the performing arts in Japanese talent schools. At the age of six, he began acting in TV dramas, commercials, and movies in Japan. He also started taking voice instruction from Christine Samson, considered by many to be the top voice instructor in Asia and a student of legendary voice teacher Seth Riggs (Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles). Samson, a famous pop singer in Hong Kong during the 1970s, took an immediate interest in Eden’s skills. Eden has already experienced the healing powers and joy his music can bring to others. At the age of ten, he became the youngest member of the first POPLIP charity group, for which Eden wrote and recorded vocals on his first song to benefit children from disaster-stricken countries. Proceeds for the song, which was published on iTunes and Amazon, were later donated to purchase educational materials for an elementary school in Bangladesh as well as supporting a health center for the poor in Haiti. In April 2015, at 16 years of age, Eden made history as the first ever instrumentalist to win the Overall Grand Champion of Brown Bags to Stardom, Hawaii’s most prestigious talent competition since the 1970’s. He then released an all original acoustic instrumental CD album of 14 songs titled “Touch the Sky". A feat no high school student has ever accomplished in Hawaii. He follows in the footsteps of Bruno Mars, Jake Shimabukuro, Yuna Ito and Tia Carrere in pursuit of international recognition and acclaim. His debut album “Touch the Sky” was a finalist nominated for the 2016 Nā Hōkū Hanohano Awards Instrumental Album of the Year, and the 2016 Hawaii Music Awards Japan where he received the Award of Special Recognition. Eden’s guitar & ukulele playing skills, and vocal performances have captivated crowds on the internet, featured as the first artist filmed at the Hawaii Theatre on popular HI*Sessions YouTube channel, as well live music venues including the Waikiki Shell, the Blue Note Hawaii, the Hard Rock Cafe Honolulu, the Miss Hawaii America Pageant, and TV interviews and performances on the major TV networks in Hawaii. Being trilingual in Japanese, English, and Chinese has helped him give well-received appearances worldwide on iHeart radio’s Perry & Price Show, KTUH, and Japanese radio KZOO, FM FUJI, and TOKYO FM, FUJI TV, and NETFLIX. Eden continues his passion of creating and sharing his music with the world and bringing more smiles. In April 2016, he traveled to Japan representing Hawaii and invited by Move4Japan volunteer organization to write the theme song and perform benefit charity shows to help support the victims of the 2011 Tohoku Japan Tsunami Earthquake. Later he performed another benefit charity show for victims of the recent Kumamoto earthquake in Honolulu.
