Rattlesnake is a composition for tambourines first created by Layne Redmond in the early 1990s for her group the Mob of Angels. It has many different versions and can be played as a duo or as an ensemble composition. This version of Rattlesnake is a composition for two Middle Eastern style tambourines, and includes rhythms in eight, three, five, seven, and ten, played over four beats. A version of this piece is recorded on the CD Trance Union by Layne Redmond and Tommy Be, who performed this duo for a number of years. It has the unmistakable mark of their work together as improvising performers.
