简介

Washington, DC’s guitar-toting, power-pop musician and YouTube “sensation” releases his fourth album, Wait, on Tuesday, May 13th. He then hits the road for an international tour to include Iceland, and the UK. As with his prior records, Wait is filled with deeply personal, heartfelt songs in front of orchestration and acoustic guitars, but offers a new dimension with the addition of his recently formed band of musical veterans, including indie drummer, Liz DeRoche (The Pushovers/Cane and the Sticks) & vocalist Sarah Gilberg (Luray). Wait is produced by Mike Ofca (Neverwake, Righteous B, Joe Zelek) and mastered by Randy LeRoy (Tim McGraw, Jack Johnson, John Prine, Relient K, Chris Thile). “I had gotten in the habit of producing a new record every year. It got to the point where I realized that that kind of production was unsustainable over the long term. So I made a concerted effort to spend a whole year writing. As a result I found inspiration in almost everything. Of course love, that goes without saying, but I also found myself writing about insecurity, growth and maturity, death, fear, internet trash talking, celebrities, the closet and the pressure of the industry to conform.” “Recording Wait was a breath of fresh air. I really wanted to make a band record rather than a singer-songwriter record with a backing band. That’s what we set out to do. From the get go, it seemed like everyone was on the same page. That shines through in the music. Bringing Liz DeRoche aboard for mixing really helped take everything to the next level. In previous recordings we (Mike Ofca and myself) tended to fall back on our ability to fill space with guitars, with liz in the mix a whole new world of possibilities opened up. We were all the sudden using a myriad of synths and vocals. What results is a more cohesive and full sound, with twists and turns sprinkled throughout.” Tom Goss has always told interesting stories through his music and live performances. Having originally set his sights on seminary school to become a priest, he quickly realized that path was not for him, and quit to pursue his musical career. Soon after he came out and later married his husband (they have been married for 3 years). Since then, he has organically built a large national and international following, produced music videos that receive millions of hits worldwide, and has toured more than 100 cities in 40 states as well as internationally. Goss’s music has been featured on ABC and HBO; his videos have topped the charts on MTV’s LOGO, and he has gained honors such as “Best Musician” by The Washington Blade two years in a row, “Favorite Male Musician” by Pride in the Arts, and “Album of the Year” by Radio Crystal Blue. Many in the gay community consider Goss to be a “pop-star of substance”. He continues to stand in the forefront of LGBT equality and arts but his music attracts a broad appeal. His music videos are an integral part of his work. Goss says, “I’m a musician but love creating art visually.” He plans on dropping a music video for Breath and Sound, a track off of Wait for which he collaborated with San Francisco-based Grammy winning, singer-songwriter, Matt Alber. The video is rumored to feature choreography and dancers from well-known companies in the Washington, DC.
