简介
“A Very Joma Christmas” has been called “December’s freshest sounding disc” (NEWSDAY .COM) with its “charming arrangements and winning originals” (USA Today), with songs that “warm like eggnog” and are “welcome little gifts” (Minneapolis Star-Tribune). The GRAND RAPIDS PRESS raved that the songs “pack an infectious, pop-laced sort of holiday punch” and THE INDIE MUSIC DATABASE called the disc “another perfect stocking stuffer to add to the list,” in a review that was picked up on the influential website THE HYPE MACHINE. The album was also listed as a "Featured" holiday CD on iTUNES. TELEVISION: Selections from “A Very Joma Christmas” were aired on global television shows such as “LIE TO ME” (Fox TV), THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS (CBS-TV) and the album as a whole was licensed to MTV. RADIO: At radio, songs from the album have aired on SIRIUS-XM's holiday "Holly Channel”, on BBC Radio-2, on Absolute Radio in London and in-store at all STARBUCKS, COSTA COFFEE and CAFFE NERO shops around the world. FILM: In 2012 "We Wish You A Merry Christmas" by the duo "Us" will appear in the feature film version of the popular German children's book WHEN SANTA FELL TO EARTH. ABOUT THE SONGS: “A Very Joma Christmas” is a 19-track collection of original songs and new takes on holiday classics from some of the foremost songwriters and performers in New York City’s music scene. Inspired by classic holiday compilations of the early 1960’s, such as Phil Spector’s “A Christmas Gift For You” (1963), the album features songs that were influenced by artists as diverse as The Beatles, Radiohead, Wham!, Bob Marley, the Beach Boys, Pink Floyd, Amy Winehouse, Lesley Gore and Nat King Cole. “A Very Joma Christmas” includes Tewar’s “Joy To The World”, a Bob Marley-inspired reggae jam, Brandon Wilde’s “Christmastime Again”, with its Doo-Wop and Motown influences, and Casey Shea's nod to 80’s Wham-era Brit-pop, “You’re All I Want For Christmas." Mia Crosby brings back the vintage girl-group sound with “Santa Forever”, and London-based vocalist A Girl Called Eddy guest stars with a cover of the ballad “The Little Boy That Santa Claus Forgot” (previously performed by Nat King Cole). The Brooklyn band Creaky Boards add their a cappella Beach Boys harmonies on the masterful “Keep Me Warm and Safe This Winter” and “We Wish You A Very Merry Christmas” by the duo Us adds a dash of punk-pop to the mix. Casey Shea provides the heartfelt track “A Very Merry Christmas.” “Silent Night” appears twice on the album – first as Brandon Wilde's haunting Radiohead-influenced modern rock cut, and then again as Tewar’s ukulele-tinged Hawaiian lullaby “Silent Night (in Hanalei Bay)”. All Night Chemists wind down the album with the elegiac “Auld Lang Syne”, followed by Briana Winter’s hopeful and reflective album-closer, “Solstice”, which looks back on the year that has passed, while looking forward to the year ahead. Two new bonus tracks include the 1980's inspired pop sounds of "Christmas Lights" by Daniel Hudson and the 1960's-era girl-group sounds of "Whistle 'Neath The Mistletoe" as performed by Briana Winter. This holiday collection includes many of the songwriters and artists featured on the “Joma Indie Rock and Pop, Vol. 1 - The Best of NYC” CD who have placed songs onto TV shows such as “Gossip Girl”, “Castle”, “Royal Pains”, “Reaper”, “Mercy”, and “Men In Trees”.
