简介
"Homework" was originally released in the early 1990's on cassette. Due to financial restrictions we were forced to use C-40 tapes (only 20 minutes per side), thus limiting the amount of music to be included. Now the album is almost twice as long as the original and features all of the music from that period (that hasn't been lost or wiped). I have enjoyed very much listening back during the compiling and mastering of this extended re-release. Admittedly there are many production mistakes, for example where I've bounced tracks to create extra space on a portastudio and had record levels too high. Or recording a drum machine to tape with a hi-hat or tambourine too loud, then having no way to go back and fix it later in the mix. Not having any kind of budget to invest in a DAT machine I was forced to mix onto cassette, then occasionally copy to another cassette and so on, thus gradually lowering the sound quality as I've gone along. Also, some of the endings on these tracks are not what you might call "worked out". I was just experimenting and never really felt I had the first idea what I was doing. Never the less this music opened doors for me in London, but was ultimately difficult for managers and/or record companies to place. With hindsight this could well have been a blessing in disguise, baring in mind my insatiable appetite for mood altering substances at that time. I sincerly hope anybody listening to this again still gets a kick out of it and anybody hearing it for the first time enjoys it whole heartedly. It is music for musics sake. Thanks for listening. Paul
