简介

So I’ve been in the studio adding a few magical flourishes to one of Ginger and Brinson’s Wedding Songs that I recorded for their nuptials last fall. They chose the lovely, ‘Marry Me’, by Train, (written by their lead singer Pat Monahan). . It’s easy to be inspired to sing for them, their happiness is palpable! I’ve added the sweet strains of mandolin from a one-hundred year old Martin. I’ve had multi-Grammy nominee and sound engineer, Ace Parkhurst play all the instruments on this song as well produce it in his studio. And I’ve added a vocal harmony as well. When you sing a well- known cover song, finding a way to honor the original that people love, and yet make it your own is important. I loved that Ginger and Brinson chose this, as we’re used to hearing it sung by a man…so that in and of itself adds interest to the ear I believe. Ginger is a very special person to me, so it was very moving to have her ask me to sing at her wedding in Texas. Many years ago, she was one of our students at the Center for Natural Wellness. In our closing circle, prior to their graduation, Ginger announced to the class that since she was far away from her family in Texas, by living and going to school in NY, that she looked to me as her family. This touched my heart very deeply! To be considered someone’s family is such a great honor. I recorded their songs, yet this tune was haunting me, as songs often do. It wanted another texture. Knowing their love of country music, I kept hearing mandolin, after having finished it, but thought that would be perfect to add. A vocal harmony kept coming into my mind as well. At the exact same time as this was happening, I received a check in the mail from a friend and writer, Brandon McMorries from Texas, at Christmas. He told me he wanted to offer it as a donation toward finishing one of my songs. Even though I have 2 albums of my original material unrecorded, I could not deny the synchronicity of that generous gift. It occurred to me that it was the perfect opportunity to honor what I was being drawn to add to their wedding song. When I asked Ace if he could add some mandolin, little did I know that he had a vintage Martin…and so it goes…simply following the bread crumbs on the path of life, that always show us what direction to go…Congratulations and much love Ginger and Brinson…
