简介
If ever a movie was made about the life of Chauncey Bowers, Christopher Lloyd would surely get the part. Somewhere between Lloyd’s signature roles as the eccentric Emmett “Doc” Brown in Back To The Future and the flighty “Reverend” Jim Ignatowsky from the hit TV series Taxi, lies the role of Chauncey Bowers — a man who’s career began as an assistant “repo man,” transitioned to a Harvard-educated PHD in cellular biology, and now defies laws of common sense as he begins to dissect the music world. With a penchant for taking listeners through the bizarre journeys of everyday life, Chauncey’s songs range from trombones who stalk him to the passing of a loved one with twists and turns as abrupt as the non sequiturs uttered by the good Reverend Jim. A scientist is, by nature, a skeptic. With these fifteen songs he has made up his own reality complete with the characters and sequence of events to back it all up. As if he’s been freed from a prison of the absolute. However, the one thing he remains skeptical of but continues to believe anyway, is that the “repo man” he worked for was legit — not just a guy stealing cars with a 16 year old accomplice. The absolute reality of that fact we may never know, but with Rumors of Reason, we can at least come along for an exhilarating ride. Like that of a hot-wired, freshly repossessed car.
