简介

Some words from the composer: Already back in the 90s I had the idea of a concept album: some sort of fairytale in Dub (inspired by compositions like Peter and the Wolf from Prokofieff), with the bass as the lead character/instrument. I composed a few first drafts back then, but it took more than 5 years until I finally got to the point of actually working on the album. Some of the original drafts made it into new versions, but most tunes were made anew. The original idea was that every person on the planet which is presented on the CD has his/her own melody of life and what would happen if this melody suddenly disappears. In this case, the prince of the kingdom is the chosen one and he has to take a little adventure in order to get back his melody. Every song stands for one part of his journey - which maybe only happens in his dreams, if you follow the concept of the album. However, we don't know if it's all just dreams or for real. It's what you make out of it. Anyway, every song represents a certain scenario and the instrumentation tells the story of the song. An example: In the title track, a bad spirit and a friendly fairy fight for the dream of the prince. The spirit is represented through some nasty sounds and melodies while the fairy is represented through the sweet harmonies and sounds in the song. Which of these ends the song? Listen carefully. In order to make interpretation a little bit easier, the booklet shortly explains what happens in the songs/dreams. However, this is just one possible interpretation. The idea is that the music makes the listener's mind float and come up with his/her own interpretation. A final note: I did not use any compression and only little EQing in this album. I thought that the world in this album is free of constraints and dreams are spacious and open and anything can happen. So the bass in this world would sound like from far, far away and so does everything else. Therefore the sound of the CD is very open and voluminous. I don't know how it sounds on laptops or earplugs, but on a proper stereo, the effect should be nice. Maybe you should even use a surround sound in order to have a 3D effect. P. S. In some review somewhere (I forgot where exactly), the author mentioned that this album might be some sort of autobiography. I like how my music made his mind float to such conclusion. However, as I just explained, this record is a made-up concept fairytale-in-dubwise album. Or then again, it's whatever you make out of it.
