简介
Mangalananda has recorded nine CD’s over the years, all in studios in India. This year an inspiration came to him to record an album with American devotional musicians that would provide aesthetically beautiful settings for people to chant the ancient mantras with. To do this, he gathered some of the finest kirtan musicians in the Bay Area to support him in this project. Together they made a music video and there was a huge and loving response worldwide from the kirtan community and the Kickstarter goal was reached. They have now recorded the album “Auspicious Bliss” to bring the mantras alive, give them beautiful settings and to capture the spirit of authentic kirtan. So it's time for a CD Release Concert and Party on Sept 3rd! Performing with Mangalananda are Prajna Vieira from the band Mukti; David Estes from his band Ananda Rasa Kirtan; Ramana Erickson on tabla; Greg Barnett on bass and acoustic classical; Bob Couillard on twelve-string acoustic; Susan Shloss on violin and Dharma Devi DeLong on flutes. This experienced “Super Group” presents the chants with a shared chemistry, artistry and enthusiasm that places kirtan on a new artistic & spiritual level. Come and share the Auspicious Bliss! Mangalananda is a direct disciple of the great woman Saint, Sri Anandamayi Ma. He first went to India in 1973 to meet her, and traveled in India with Ma for two years. Since that time he has passed over 40 years in the practice of Bhakti Yoga under the guidance of some of Anandamayi Ma’s greatest Disciples. In 2001 he was sent to Omkareshwar, in Central India to help start a school in one of Ma’s Ashrams, where he lived and taught for the next twelve years. He returned to the US in 2013. He is an appointed Acharya (Teacher of the Ashram’s teachings) of Ma Sharanam Ashrams in India and the US. He has performed kirtan as a part of his spiritual practice since 1972, and since 2007 has toured Europe and the US yearly, giving concerts and workshops in meditation. He is the author of the book “A Goddess Among Us”—a biography of Anandamayi Ma.
