[DOT-MATRIX POP] It is the year 3230, and all the cool robots are listening to Portland trio Bombs Into You. The band gets gears turning with its old-school, chord-driven pop hooks, punkish execution and firm grasp on teenage angst. But what really sets the band into orbit is Jared Jensen’s expert use of synthesizer, offering percussive blips, beeps, booms and bops in heavy, heady doses. It’s electronic rock exploding out of the basement and into the collective consciousness, and proof the future’s not as bleak as movies make it out to be. - Willamette Week Portland electronic-rock trio Bombs Into You seems to live in a number of musical worlds, including at least one inhabited by the Cure, another by the Cars, another by Nine Inch Nails, another by science fiction shows on a broken-screen TV and another by all-night party people. The group...seems to have figured out that all those nifty gadgets available to modern musicians don’t mean nuthin’ without somebody trying to say something on them. Almost as if some guy playing video games suddenly realized his fingers might be better off making soulful melodies for the 28th century rather than going to the next level of violent fantasy in this one. - Portland Tribune ...punchy, wiry rocktinged with bits of electronic noise, a sound that wouldn't be out of place on an album by Foals or Interpol...It's quite affecting. - Robert Ham
