The mutual love for heavy music combined with the genuine desire to create catchy, accessible tunes, was the main motivation for the 4 gentlemen of King Hiss to form a band. The fact that every bandmember came from a different musical background - ranging from hardcore to metal, over classic and stonerrock - contributed to their own trademarked style and sound. If you were to give human form to their musical style, it would probably be the bastard child of Mastodon and Kyuss: a mix of voracious riffing, thunderous rhythms and exhausting energy. King Hiss declared January 2012 the right time to release their first 3-song demo onto the unsuspecting ears of their fans. And boy, did it leave a mark. Following this first release, a ton of shows were played, good times were had and a solid fanbase was built. Writing songs became second nature and combined with a strict workethic, the boys entered the studio once more to record a 7-song EP called ‘Snakeskin’. Their releaseshow in April 2013 sold out and the reviews were overwhelmingly positive. Two videos were released for the songs ‘Rollergirl’ and ‘Snakeskin’ (thanks to much appreciated help of some very talented friends). The journey towards bigger and better stages continued. Over the course of the last 2 years, King Hiss supported insanely cool bands like Red Fang, Kvelertak and Steak Number Eight. They also shared stages with legendary acts such as Mondo Generator, The Sword, Karma To Burn, The Exploited, and many more. The fact that King Hiss was one of the few Belgian bands asked to play the legendary Graspop Metal Meeting in 2013, should testify to the professional level at which they make and play music. And the future is looking bright. Early 2014, the boys teamed up with Ace Zec (Ocean Side Studios) to record their third release: a full album titled "Sadlands". Ace took care of the producing, recording and mixing of the 12 songs. The mastering was done by Dave Collins at Collins Audio in L.A. (Queens Of The Stoneage, Soundgarden, Fu Manchu, …).
