Violet UK is the splinter group of X Japan, a famed Heavy Metal group from Japan. Compared to most of X Japans songs, Blue Butterfly is more electronic, with the thumping beat found throughout the entire song. For that matter, there isnt much Heavy Metal here, its better categorized under electronic. This isnt very revolutionary. I highly dislike the lyrics to this song. Theyre sung quite slowly and they dont make all that much sense to me. Frankly, the lyrics dont melodically or rhythmically match the song very well in part due to the echo. Basically, Blue Butterfly attempts to equate nature with love and lust, yet the rhymes feel forced and unnatural. I dont know if there is a Japanese version of this song, but it is quite possible that the lyrics are far better in it if it exists. Blue Butterfly doesnt get haunting until about halfway through the song. Even then, I only got the chill listening for the first time, and the "haunting" section is just the preview and is about as long as the preview. For a $0.99, its not bad if you have money to burn. If youre looking for an amazing track, look elsewhere. X Japan has better offerings.
