简介

UK punk legend Foreign Legion joins Sledgeback on this limited edition split FOREIGN LEGION: Foreign Legion is a punk band from South Wales, often referred to as the longest running punk group in Wales. Foreign Legion formed in 1984 from the ashes of a band called Society. The band released their first EP on their own label 'Rent a Racket'. Their first full-length album entitled 'Welcome to Fort Zinderneuf' was released on the Venture label. During the 80s the band played regular slots in the famous 100 Club and supported the likes of The Partisans, The Adicts, Major Accident and Joe Strummer. Foreign Legion reformed in 2000, With a lineup consisting of a number of original members, they released a split album with Major Accident called Cry of the Legion; then the band wrote the album What Goes Around, Comes Around (DSS Records) which was produced by Mick Jones of The Clash. The band released a few EPs and played around Europe and supported the likes of the Dropkick Murphys, the Templars, NY Relics, UK Subs; USA dates with Major Accident, playing worldwide in venues such as CBGBs (the only Welsh band to ever play the legendary club). In 2007 Death Valley was recorded, the latest album featuring more new material as well as a re-worked version of the classic 'Message From Nowhere'. The band recorded an untitled EP in 2008 which never got released, they are still going strong with a new line up. SLEDGEBACK: The sound of Sledgeback originates in the Hungarian front man's vocal style that defines the whole structure of the group with lyrics that often describe painful moments of life taken from Hun's personal experiences, which is known today as “Gut Rock”. The band successfully toured the Western United States for years appearing with the Flogging Molly, MDC, Dr Know, Angry Samoans and more to support it's releases them came out on Sliver records (USA) and Rebellion records (Holland) between 2004-2007. Sledgeback may sound close to it's influences but still is easily recognizable, creating a unique mixture of the so called "street punk" style with the timeless sound of 90's west coast punk that rooted from bands like Bad religion or Social distortion and successfully incorporating the vocals of Gabor Hun that sets them aside from other similar bands. This group was able separate their sound from the hundreds of bands, sounded exactly like their influences. Sledgeback has found it's own sound between the lines, patching up their own hole in the broad sound of American punk music. Sledgeback is a combination of two bands. The influential Hungarian punk group C.A.F.B. and Seattle based Martyr Complex led by Guy Lacey. These formations slowly melted in one piece through a half decade between 2004 and 2009 with several line up changes. The indie label Sliver records signed Sledgeback in 2004 and released their debut album "People's choice” just months after they set foot on stage for the first time. After their second US release in 2006, the Dutch Rebellion records signed and released the first ever European full-length CD of Sledgeback, "Perception Becomes Reality" on clear vinyl LP and CD along with the compilation disc "We are the underground" that also contains a song from the band. Following the 2006 summer west coast tour Guy Lacey departed the band. Between 2007 and 2009, Sledgeback worked with ever-changing line ups, playing very limited amount of shows and spent about 15 months in studio led by the front man Gabor Hun. The band recorded more than 20 songs for the album "Bite the bullet" that followes the special split CD with UK punk veterans Foreign Legion, titled "Reality Bites" which have been produced by front man Gabor Hun. In 2009, Guy Lacey rejoined Gabor Hun, and former Himsa Drummer, Tim Mullen, and then added former Columbia records artist, Shawn Trotter to perfect the sound and lineup of Sledgeback.
