An original member of one of Australia’s favourite exports The Ten Tenors, Nathan Kneen is a music theatre specialist, but has had extensive professional experience in opera, operetta, and as a concert and recital artist. Nathan began his interest in music at age 8, after watching his mother learn the organ for their church, and his love for singing blossomed, seeing him transform from a boy soprano into a versatile tenor, covering an impressive vocal range. After finishing his studies at the Conservatorium, Nathan toured Australia and New Zealand as a Protean in Simon Gallaher’s production of A funny thing happened on the way to the forum. He also understudied the role of Hero, a role he played on stage over 30 times. Nathan performed in the ensemble of Opera Queensland productions of Faust and Die Fledermaus and in The Merry Widow, once again a Simon Gallaher production. Another professional appearance was in Essgee’s Pirates of Penzance in which Nathan was the understudy for the lead role of Frederic. Nathan has been a regular soloist with the Queensland Pops Orchestra A personal highlight for Nathan was being asked to perform at the Canonisation of Mary MacKillop in Rome in October 2010 as part of the representative group from the Australian Catholic University.
