简介
Live at the Q with Fiona Joy and The Blue Dream Ensemble spans style and genre. A FINALIST in the IMA's (Independent Music Awards) for Best LIVE Performance, this album has no ‘sounds like’….. it is a wonderfully eclectic and musically brilliant combination and a standout performance. “The Blue Dream Ensemble includes some of the finest musicians I have ever had the privilege to share the stage with. There is something wonderfully daring and yet honest and open about a LIVE performance album’ says Hawkins Pianist Fiona Joy's Celtic origins combine with Rebecca Daniel’s Gaelic vocals, Andy Busuttil’s Maltese heritage, Musicologist Dr John Napier’s Middle Eastern influences and the magic of Dave Ellis’s Double Bass Jazz rhythms. If you are still confused, watch them perform LIVE at the Q at www.youtube.com/fionajoy . The album was recorded at the Q Theatre at the Joan Sutherland Performing Arts Centre and has been released in Australia by Little Hartley Music. The Blue Dream Ensemble members are Vocalist and Violinist Rebecca Daniel (ACO), Percussionist and Wind player Andy Busuttil (The Bridge Project), Double Bass player Dave Ellis (Tommy Tycho) and Cellist Dr John Napier. They join Fiona Joy Hawkins thought provoking and sensitive piano with their exceptional orchestral and improvisational skills to make their own unique contribution. The concert was recorded on a 102 key Huon pine Australian Stuart & Sons piano, a rare and visually stunning instrument that respects tradition while embracing innovation. The result is a unique piano that has been hailed as the best piano by many who have played it. The Stuart & Son’s piano is a distinct ‘new voice’, an instrument for the musician and composer of today. Australian ARIA Finalist Fiona Joy Hawkins was also winner of the ZMR Lifestyle Music Awards for Best Album of the year and has over 43 awards across 9 countries , working with internationally renowned artists including T-Bone Wolk (Hall & Oates), Tony Levin (Peter Gabriel, Dire Straits), Jeff Haynes (Pat Methany), Eugene Friesen (Paul Winter Consort) and Heather Rankin (Rankin Family) to name a few. ‘One of the brightest lights in the contemporary instrumental genre Fiona Joy is poised to move into stardom’ Will Ackerman (Founder Windham Hill Records).
