简介
Experimental artists are those that push against boundaries and definitions when it comes to their style of performance. These artists possess a musical approach that is a hybrid of disparate styles, incorporating unorthodox, new, and distinctly unique elements. T-Ray The Violinist is a New Orleans based violinist forging his own path in a way that is literally the embodiment of experimental artistry. Creating a sound that is a distinctive fusion of R&B, Jazz, Classical, Neo-Soul, and Hip-Hop, T-Ray became enamored with the violin at the age of 9. The Baton Rouge, La native began his pursuit of a professional music career early on while studying at The New Orleans Center for Creative Arts (NOCCA) his junior and senior year of high school. The education he received at NOCCA was one of the driving forces in T-Ray’s decision to pursue a career as a musician. In 2006, upon graduating from high school, he moved to the Crescent City to pursue a degree in music at the University of New Orleans. As time progressed, T-Ray established a name for himself by performing both as a solo artist and in ensembles at local and regional venues. Beyond the realm of being a solo artist, T-Ray has also teamed with artist such as Estelle, Jussie Smollett, Hill Harper Charmaine Neville, DJ Raj Smoove, and Tank and The Bangas. He has had the opportunity to perform at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, Voodoo Festival and open for Atlantic Records artist Wale, DJ Mannie Fresh, Erykah Badu, Dead Prez, David Banner, Big Freedia, Dee- 1, Partners-N-Crime, Universal Record’s 3D Natee, Waterseed, The Honorable South just to name a few. T-Ray has also teamed up with DJ RQ Away to create “Progressive Existence,” a group focusing on an experimental and cohesive blend between DJ and live instrument. T-Ray has taken advantage of all of his experiences in pursuit of creating his own unique sound by releasing two independent mix tapes, “The Road Less Traveled,” and “Unexpected Sounds Vol. 1”. By releasing these mix tapes he achieved his goal of exposing listeners to the violin being used in a mainstream context, as opposed to a backing instrument. T-Ray continues to push the boundaries by inserting his style into the world of fashion, film, television, media productions, and other independent projects through his music production company T-Ray Productions, LLC. As an independent artist T-Ray has taken showing his music to the world into his own hand by creating his first tour, The Make A Way Tour taking him to stages in Texas, Georgia, Chicago, New York, Washington DC, and teaming up with Progressive Existence for their first internationally tour to parts of Europe. Notably, T-Ray is not only a performer but also an educator, who through the years has worked with various music education programs in the New Orleans area and teaching in local school systems, confirming his commitment to cultivating the next generation of great musicians. The next wave of experimental artists has arrived, and like their predecessors, these talented individuals are defying boundaries, crafting new sounds, educating new artists, and setting the standard for new music. T-Ray The Violinist is an artist at the forefront of the new movement with an incomparable sound sure to leave a lasting impression!
