On July 10th 2008 Owen, Alexi and Jez set off from Brighton. Suitcases and guitars in tow they headed off to Cape Town to record their debut album Left at The Robot at the notorious Valve and Wizard studio, with producer Derek Oliver. With a strong idea of how they wanted the record to sound, and being lovers of all things analogue, the recording focused on organic performance, rather than the sparkled up, edited, digital production techniques more commonly used today. The result is 'Left at The Robot' an album of real songs, played by real songwriters, inspired by their individual and collective life experiences. From the opening track, Now I'm Here originating from a guitar part written in Brighton in the days running upto their departure, through more 'message' orientated tracks like Lay Down Your Guns and Five Horizons to the melodic guitar fused Inside Trees, Troubled Water, Left at The Robot and Reflections, the album weaves together magical songs to stunning effect. Adding further more 'rocky' tracks like Child of The Sun, Lady of The Lake and Magical Sister... the result is that rare thing, an album of individually crafted songs that retains interest throughout - no 'fillers' or make weights here. The songs are all carried by the evocative voice of Alexi to create an cohesive, engaging album, the sum of which is even greater than the not inconsiderable individual parts. The album took a total of seven months to complete and a few more to get into production but now its here!
