Keyna Wilkins is a professional composer, pianist and flautist based in Sydney, Australia. Her published compositions include a collection of solo piano pieces Sky Pieces and a 3 part tuba piece Mars published by the Australian publishing house, Wirripang. Aspects of jazz, French impressionist, flamenco, Asian folk music and the influence of contemporary Australian composers can be heard in her music. Keyna also performs with Sydney-based jazz, classical, contemporary, latin and flamenco ensembles. Performances include the opening of the 2012 Adelaide Fringe Festival at the Convention Centre, (rated 4.5 stars by the Adelaide Advertiser), the sell-out opening of the 2011 Picasso Exhibition at the Art Gallery NSW, and jazz performances on the main arena of the Royal Easter Show 2012. Born in picturesque Somerset, UK, she developed an early passion for music, learning piano at age seven and flute at age ten. At age 13 Keyna composed her first full piece and has since enjoyed a rich and varied music education spanning UK (Bath Spa University) and Germany (Hildesheim University). She was awarded her MA Flute Performance in 2008 from Bristol University (UK) and after emmigrating to Sydney in 2009, from England, she is currently refining her compositional style with a Master of Music Composition at Sydney Conservatorium under the supervision of Professor Anne Boyd.
