Radioactive X Girlfriend (RxGF) is the artistic brainchild of U.S. music producer, John Morgan Reilly, known for uniquely combining organic and electronic music that borrows from Tekno, Trip Hop, Pop Noir, and "various transcendental impulses of the sublime". Known for tapping into a wealth of musicianship for every record, the band went live in 2014 to showcase musical talent much in the same way that Massive Attack, Nerve, and U.N.C.L.E. showcases their band members. Any Other Way is the 3rd full-length RxGF release on Reilly's Orange Allies Records, released digitally in 2014 and on limited edition CD in 2015. With 2013's Belladonna Dream, Reilly deliberately began featuring the smoky vocals of alto songstress, Angeline Schaaf, who went on to dominate the majority of featured tunes. A significant turning point musically and sonically for the band, the record gracefully pieces together the disparate genres of the first two records while creating something completely innovative, featuring Schaaf's ominous, chill, and sometimes haunting vocals across a symphonic and beat-heavy landscape. Any Other Way received solid international buzz and became the first record to rotate regularly on alternative and independent radio in the Europe, South American, and the US, particularly their single, We Will Not Be Denied, which was eventually remixed by Assemblage 23 mastermind, Tom Shear. The unique combination of primal acoustic drums, fat and psychedelic electronics, socio-politically focused lyrics, and beautiful female vocals has won a place in the musical landscape as something both futuristic and cinematic in musical scope. Some critics have deemed Any Other Way to be a kind of Electro-Grunge or Pop Noir, although the record features a variety of hybrid stylizations from trip hop to industrial. RxGF largely distinguishes itself in crossing many genres while still maintaining a uniformly darker and recognizable sonic vibe that broods and flows, tackling topics that most artists are afraid to tackle such as the accelerated erosion of individual liberties worldwide, mind control, despotism, prophetic warnings, spiritual warfare, and Western Culture's alarmingly increased complacency with limited freedoms. Formed in 2010, and evolving through alt rock and electro folk genres, the first 2 full releases in 2011 and 2012 primarily featured Reilly on vocals with help from a variety of accomplished musicians including multi-instrumentalist Dave Rosser, New Zealand pop star, Daniel Bedingfield, and drummers Josh Greenberg (Ruby Doe) & Davey Brozowski (Modest Mouse, Mudhoney, Catheters). The records also feature a number of Seattle, LA, Nashville, and London-based musicians.
