Before writing this album, I had a period of two years when I couldn’t write a single song. I thought my mojo was gone, and that music would be something I used to do back when I was young. I also thought I was going to get married, and that my life has reached the point where “they lived happily ever after” (until death or a mid-life crisis tore them apart). This record is a proof of me having been wrong on both counts, and a document of the journey that life took me on during the eight months it took me to write, produce and record Exorcism. Confusingly enough, not everything here is autobiographical; think of this album as series of short stories largely based on reality – mine or other people’s. Exorcism is dedicated to lovers, love criminals and those who are yet to realise how much we impact each other’s lives, whether we intend to or not. Ray Grant February 2011 Amsterdam
