Mr. Calzaghe (directed by Vaughan Sivell) tells the story of undefeated Welsh­-Italian boxer Joe Calzaghe and the unique relationship between him and his trainer/father, Enzo. We follow Joe from his humble beginnings in Newbridge, Wales as the son of an Italian- immigrant through his rise to prominence as one of the most successful boxers of his generation. It is a story of struggle against the odds, brute force of will, physical strength and athletic mastery. It is also about family, love, loss and redemption. The music to the film explores all these aspects of Joe’s life and career as we’re taken through Joe and Enzo’s trials and tribulations: how the shy young Welsh boy overcomes all the odds, trained by an impassioned Sicilian father to become the “Italian Dragon” and conquer the world of boxing. Multi award­-winning composer Ceiri Torjussen’s music was described by the Los Angeles Times as a “sudden bolt of creative lightning.” Welsh-­born, but based in Los Angeles, his credits run the gamut of independent films, documentaries, network TV, animation and numerous large-­budget studio films.
