FLASHBACK is a compilation of songs I wrote and originally recorded earlier in my career; a career that started in 1960 with my first record at age 14 singing with a doo-wop group, then becoming a studio musician / singer at age 19. In the mid 1960's, I became associated with FGG Productions who produced The Angels, created The Strangeloves, discovered The McCoys and produced several hits including I Want Candy, Hang on Sloopy, Cara-Lin, Night Time, and My Boyfriend's Back. In 1965, after FGG created the fictitious entity The Strangeloves who were purported to be 3 brothers (Miles, Niles & Giles Strange) from Australia, their song, I Want Candy became a major hit. However, the producers didn't want to be live performers. So, along with a few other FGG studio musicians who actually recorded the song, I became part of The Strangeloves live act playing the part of brother Niles Strange. After my years as Niles Strange came to an end, I began to write and produce my own music. But, I never released any of those songs, until now. The songs on this album were originally written and recorded starting in 1969 and ending in 1981. In fact, one of the songs, Now You're Here, is the actual 1969 recording. Of the remaining songs, 3 were recorded in 1981, and I just re-recorded the remaining songs in late 2014. For those of you who are interested in such things, 4 of these songs are analog recordings (recorded on audio tape) because digital recording hadn't yet become available. They were digitally transformed for this album. As with any project, there are many who contributed to making these songs come to life. I'd like to thank my "Strangeloves brothers" Jack Raczka, Tom Kobus, John Shine and Richie Lauro, as well as Russ Oppenheimer (1910 Fruitgum Company), Mike Riddle, and (my real brother) Mark Jones for their assistance and support. I hope you enjoy listening to these songs as much as I enjoyed performing them.
