SAMM and Jamie's vocal & bass duo is STRICKTLY unorthodox...jazz and a little beyond. They have been performing together as a duo for over 10 years across the south Florida area. This is their first complete recording project together, although SAMM joined as a special guest on Jamie's 2010 award-winning release BACK HOME, co-writing the title track. THE UNORTHODOX DUO was funded as a Kickstarter project in October of 2014, raising over $12,000 from 176 backers from all across North & South America, Europe & Asia. SAMM has been dazzling audiences from Palm Beach to New York with her sultry voice for many years. Born in Trinidad, she grew up in Queens, New York and was fortunate to know, hear, and learn from many of the great jazz icons of our day. She is also an avid photographer, chef, and jewelry & clothing designer. She creates beautiful things. Jamie Ousley is assistant professor of jazz bass at Florida International University in Miami, Florida. He was named "Best South Florida Jazz Musician of 2011" by Gold Coast Magazine and has released three multi-award winning CDs. His most recent, A SEA OF VOICES, reached #8 on the JazzWeek radio charts and won the "Best of Show" prize at the Global Music Awards.
