Overture in G Minor in the French Manner, Krebs Wv 820
简介
Johann Sebastian Bach's star pupil, Johann Ludwig Krebs, carried on his great teacher's tradition with works such as the Overture in the French Manner, an homage to Bach's famous Overture in the French Style, and the Partita in E-Flat Major. But Krebs also kept up with the changing times with compositions like the electrifying Sonata in A Minor. This collection brings together three major works by Krebs, all recorded for the first time, on the occasion of the 300th anniversary of the composer's birth. The CD includes a booklet in English and German with notes by Krebs expert and virtuoso organist Felix Friedrich. Harpsichordist Rebecca Pechefsky has degrees from Columbia University, Queens College, and the CUNY Graduate Center. A founding member of Brooklyn Baroque, she has performed at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall; in series such as Music at Morris-Jumel, the American Festival of Microtonal Music, and the Miami Bach Society; at the Boston Early Music Festival fringe series, the Berkeley Festival Fringe, and the Harpsichord Center of Southern California. Ms. Pechefsky has premiered works by Frank J. Oteri, Louis Pelosi, Mary Inwood, Mark Janello, Graham Lynch, Johnny Reinhard, and Ben Yarmolinsky. For Quill Classics she has recorded the complete harpsichord works of François d'Agincour, as well as “Bach and his Circle,” featuring the music of Bach and his contemporaries, which won the 2009 JustPlainFolks Award for Best Classical Solo Album, and Bach’s Well-Tempered Clavier, Book I. Currently organist at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Glendale, Queens, she lives in Brooklyn with her husband, Erik Ryding, with whom she has coauthored Bruno Walter: A World Elsewhere, winner of the ASCAP-Deems Taylor Award. Her recording of harpsichord works by Johann Ludwig Krebs to commemorate his 300th birthday was released in February of 2013. She recently gave concerts in Italy and Amsterdam.
