With an extent antecedent of constant work in composition, sound design and performance that consolidates their reputation, their name and the quality of their shows and publications. Nowadays, SELVA has turned into a space of constant creation and personal/professional growth. Selva is today a platform to create links and channel high vibration messages and consciousness to the public who lives the music with the sound intensity of “metal” in and out of Ecuador. SELVA was conformed in 1999 in Quito, Ecuador and after one year of their formation they record and release their first studio demo named: "Mantram"; work that would grant them the mention to Revelation Band of the Year, in 2000, offered by the most important radio station at that time, Radio Metro Stereo. In August 2002, they released their first album “LA RADIO CONTRA LA CABEZA”, being this their first work published and available on stores. With this album SELVA was voted in 2001 the Best Band of the Year, also by the radio station Radio Metro Stereo. In February 2003, Juan Francisco Martínez joined the band and SELVA found the space, time and conditions to redefine their performance and to be honest with themselves and the music they wanted to produce and record in 2004 a new EP containing 4 tracks and they decide to self title it. In October 2005, the band releases an official video of the single “Atrapados” (Trapped) that was voted as Best Alternative Music Video 2005 by the public on Mis Bandas Nacionales, award ceremony sponsored by the television broadcasting company TVHoy, the radio station HOT 106 and Quito City Hall. “Atrapados” official video was also selected to be presented at the Muestra Internacional de Cine de Animación, Animac 2006 (Animated Film International Showcase, Animac 2006), in Spain and later included in the TV show CLIPS, from Catalunia television, as a part of a special program regarding the best works in animation presented in the international showcase. It was also broadcasted on MTV Latinoamércia. In Octuber 2007 started producing what would be their new statement and sound to be identified with; the album “LUZ” (LIGHT). In 2011, SELVA received a recognition for his music in the “Pesos Pesados” (Heavyweight) category in the “Premios Ecuador es lo máximo” (Ecuador is the Best - Awards), given by the Radio Pública del Ecuador (Ecuador Public Radio). At the end of the year 2012, the band initiates their new production “Cuatrotreintaydos”, which is the materialization of two years of musical work and constant movement at every level. It is the reflection of the moments, sensations and actions of four individuals who finds within the “musical experience” a tool to acknowledge themselves and who wants to share that possibility of experience with the public.
