Like the hot desert winds that move across land and sea over time, so music sweeps across regions and cultures touching hearts and minds. In his fourth CD, SIROCCO, Jeff Narell features his Caribbean steel pans as a lead voice and collaborates with musicians from Africa and the African diaspora. This pan-afro mix is anchored by virtuoso groove master bassist Linley Marthe from the East African island of Mauritius (described by Joe Zawinul as a ‘phenomenon’) and highlighted by the searing vocals of Mola Sylla, world music explorer from Dakar, Senegal. SIROCCO was recorded in California, Mali and Paris and is an explosive genre busting dance-world- jazz brew.
