简介

New Jersey-based rock-trio Best Hit TV announced their debut full-length album titled Being Emotionally Manipulative isn’t Very Punk Rock of You, which is set for release on July 20. The announcement came on with the release of their song “Part of Me” as a preview single. Recorded in their Newark rehearsal space, the album will follow two previous EP releases and a string of shows across New Jersey, Pennsylvania and New York. “I’m really proud of how the record came out, which is a result of the time and patience we had because we recorded it ourselves,” said Andrew Sheldon, who primarily plays guitar with the group. “Some songs have as many as five or six different recorded versions, so when the album had finally gotten to the point where I could sit and listen to it from start to finish, I was thrilled — and relieved — that it felt like one cohesive record.” The band said the versions are each different arrangements that play with ideas from genres all over the spectrum from noise-pop and ambience to bossanova and boogaloo. “The idea was that these songs work this way together,” said bassist and keyboardist Steve Fredericks, “but that also might not mean that’ll be how we play it live — and even that might change from set to set.” Emily Shown, who started playing drums with the group in the middle of recording sessions and takes lead vocal duties in their new track, said the title of the album — and “Part of Me” — reflects the band’s efforts to write songs about sincere emotional experiences without being too self-serious. “There’s nothing cynical or sarcastic about these songs,” she said. “We take them seriously, but we also have a lot of fun playing music together and we want to reflect that part of our dynamic as well.”
