简介

Katie Leigh and the Infantry is an alternative-country band from San Diego, CA. The band features sisters Katie Leigh and Ashley, backed by a strong rhythm section of very manly men (who sometimes have beards). When asked who they sound like, generally they scratch their heads and begin talking about varying musical experiences from Led Zeppelin to the Dixie Chicks to Allison Krauss and conclude that they sound a lot like themselves. The band writes collaboratively, but Katie Leigh often composes their songs. Katie Leigh explains, “I write music in response to my life and the lives around me; sometimes the songs are about love and sometimes they are about heartbreak. But I really want people to feel like there is hope and a way to move forward. This is the concept behind our album "March". Katie Leigh and the Infantry has performed at San Diego venues such as House of Blues, Anthology, Lestats West, and The Casbah, in addition to many bars (which will always hold a special place in the band’s heart). KL&I has been featured on 102.1 KPRI’s Homegrown Hour, 97.3 KSON’s morning show with John and Tammy, and San Diego’s KUSI News. In 2011 the band released their self-produced EP “Drunk in Georgia” to critical acclaim. Then, in 2012 the band was invited to perform at the San Diego County Fair. Later, in 2013, Katie Leigh was invited to be a featured speaker at Point Loma Nazarene University’s Writer’s Symposium alongside fellow alumni Joel P. West (“The Tree Ring”) and Bryan Bangerter (“The Family Wagon”). Later the same year, the band successfully funded their first full-length album with the help of Kickstarter (and a few hundred helpful fans). Just when they thought it couldn’t get any better, the band was selected to play San Diego Indiefest 8, a three-day celebration of independent music, film, art, business, and thought. Katie Leigh and the Infantry released their first full-length album called March in Fall 2013 with the help of San Diego Music Award winning producer/musician , Aaron Bowen. Currently the band is booking shows around San Diego, including Storytellers at Pizza Port on Sunday, Feb. 23rd, the Roland Street Fair on Sunday, March 30th, and Tin Can Alehouse on Wednesday, April 2nd. Soon KLI will be planning their first tour. “’It’s just the beginning for us,” says Katie Leigh, “and it’s exciting to be able to do what we love.” “Katie Leigh and the Infantry? Songs so catchy […] delivered by sweet sibling harmonies and tight acoustic rhythms. We love that band!” – Cathryn Beeks of ListenLocalsd.com and The Homegrown Hour on 102.1 KPRI “There’s something about the sound of a mandolin under tight vocal harmonies that brings out my secret inner country-folk fan. It also makes me wish for a rocking chair on a porch with a bottle of whiskey on a hot Kentucky summer day. And I’ve never even been to Kentucky. What are you doing to me, Katie Leigh? Whatever it is, I want more!” - Justin Roberts, San Diego CityBeat
