简介
I grew up in New York City (the Bronx), As a boy, I can't remember a time without music in my home. My father played the accordion, so he was always singing, playing or whistling something. My sister loved to sing. I remember her singing along with the songs on the radio. She sang just like on the radio and I would try to copy her. I remember she almost fell over one day because I was actually beginning to copy her. She was like, "I can't believe it." My brother had a collection of records, so he was always playing them. Even friends that came by, young and old, were music enthusiasts. So, naturally, I gravitated toward all of this music. One day, when I was about 14 years old, I was walking down a street in the South Bronx near where I lived. I spotted a guitar in somebody's trash. The neck was broken so I fixed it and taught myself to play. I played with many of the local musicians and toured the clubs under various names: Crosswire, Apostle and Crall, to name a few. As everyone knows, New York has many cultures and music scenes. Latin music, with it's many varieties: Salsa, Merengue, Cuban-Afro sounds, Reggae, Calypso, South American rhythms, etc. And, of course, Rock and Roll, with it's many derivatives, influences and styles: Hard Rock, Metal, Folk, Blues, Jazz, Rap, etc. It has been an education, to say the least; and it has been my education musically. Lyrically, I draw from everything and anything that affects us as human beings - the "human experience" of love, joy, peace, hate, etc. This C.D. is sprinkled from beginning to end with a wealth of melodies and moods that I hope will stand on its own. I like to rate my lyrics and music with an "E" for Everyone, so that whether you are five or a hundred and five, you can listen in or sing along . . . Shake a little here, shake a little there . . . and if you can't rock or roll, then let this music rock your soul.
