简介

DecadeZ Training Day is certainly a ride from beginning to end and a album that will be cemented in my collection for years to come. DecadeZ fills a void in hip hop with his nasaly vocals and his attention demanding over-the-top delivery. If you could imagine a breed of T.I.'s Attitude, Kanye West Cockiness, Drake's Swagger, Kendrick Lamar's Lyricism, Lil Wayne's Punchlines, and Tupac's Delivery then you would easily be able to imagine how this CD sounds like. Training Day is the most recent album by "DecadeZ" who is a longtime artist/music producer who has collaborated with several major artist's such as E-40,Lil Jon,Tyga,Problem,Jae Millz,Gudda Gudda,Too Short,Lil B & many more. This record sets the tone with deep lyricism, dramatic punchlines and witty story telling over hard hitting 808-driven beats. This album is the swiss army knife of your music collection with a type of song for every occasion that cohesively builds into one big masterpeice. DecadeZ Training Day opens with what sounds like an old school cassette being inserted into a tape deck and quickly paints the picture of an audio book full of personal life lessons. It immediately jumps into an almost orchestral sounding record titled "Unless You Halle Berry" complete with booming horns and an almost mozart like piano riff with DecadeZ using an aggressive flow that almost sounds like he's voicing an inner monologue on his distrust for love. Advancing through this expertly crafted album, we see DecadeZ expressing himself with no filter and deep lyricism with lines like "An my world feels so shallow to me, but you might drown in it" "And you come a dime a dozen, but you won't even find a dozen like me" Training Day isn't just your typical album but seem's as if it is a peice of DecadeZ history. As the album progresses, we see the serious lighten up a bit and place emphasis on having a good time with records like "Fun" which features sultry background vocals by R&B crooner J-Banks. With a bellowing delivery and charismatic flow over bare bones production crafted by DecadeZ himself, you can't deny the amount of intensity and character in his verses. Following the overall theme of "Training Day" not only do you learn about the lifestyle DecadeZ indulges in but you get to learn about those around him. Never has an artist been so transparent about their life in such a crafty and exciting manner. Each skit on Training Day gives a quick glimpse into DecadeZ and his conversations with the outside world and interactions with some of the people closest to him. Literally, as the listener we get to eavesdrop on conversations that he has with "King Razor" and "B.C.". We also get a couple verses from "Tray GeeZ" which shine through and show that "DecadeZ" isn't the only one in his camp that has the ability to strongly flex their lyrical ability on top of high energy beats. "DecadeZ" even goes as far as to shout out his engineer "Keeloz"! (who apparently engineered a large amount of the tracks). Following the trend of bellowing delivery with an nasaly vocal tone, Boom Boom Boom seem's to be the biggest highlight record of "Training Day". Bakersfield Native "Awesome Azz Mal" delivers an impactful performance that strongly resonates with the audience while "DecadeZ" deliver a hook with such an interesting tone that it almost sounds like a broken robot singing (a very melodic, catchy and vocally adept broken robot but a broken robot none the less) and verse inwhich the delivery sounds as if he was posessed by the late great Tupac himself. He spit's lines about how no one was there for to grind with him but his best friend "B.C.". Stand out smash "Gassin" even recieves the remix treatment for the album calling on Sick Wid It Record's label mates "Turf Talk","Cousin Fik" as well as The Federation's "Stresmatic" (frequent collaborator with E-40 doing the hook's for some of the most high profile E-40 song's out such as My Lil Grimey N*gga,Ripped and Say I). Even record's that slow down towards the end of the "Training Day" album still provide an astounding amount of hype with the "Antonio Beats" produced record "On U" sounding like an ambient thrill ride worthy of a A$AP Rocky verse. Although Training Day is a high energy ride from beginning to end, there are moment's were "DecadeZ" decides to share heartfelt lessons with his listener. Song's like "Family" which preaches no matter what happens family is family and "Survival" which is an incredibly emotional Epixx-produced record with an exceptional vocal performance from "Eddie Brock" of "The Epixx" that totes an incredibly detailed story of a neighbordhood drug dealer who is shot down infront of his family while trying to raise money for his newborn daughter and his mother's chemotherapy for cancer (yes, we know...incredibly vivid). All In all, "Training Day" is a incredible ride from beginning to end in which "DecadeZ" hard work, thought and effort shines through. This is one of the album's that I'll be listening to for years to come in my collection. We can't wait for "Training Day" Vol.2 and you'd be silly to not be at the edge of your seat for the next installment as well. To sum it all up, DecadeZ shows he has longevity, character, individuality and creativity showing his trademark tagline "He's been hot for DecadeZ" is certainly a correct statement. 4.5 out of 5. - Keyslow
