简介
When Am I Now is the debut full-length LP from long-time post-punk indie band Maravich. Comprising former members of Brazil, Loretta, and Jim Fix who were schooled in the DIY hardcore/punk culture of the ‘90s, Maravich have been a no-frills, in-your-face, three-piece rock band in the Indianapolis music scene since 2008. Their music combines the straight-up heavy riffing of bands like Local H and Helmet, flavored with ethereal, spacey elements of Hum and Sunny Day Real Estate and the abrasive, yet catchy, dynamics of Fugazi and Jawbreaker. The ten songs of When Am I Now were written and recorded with a focus on capturing a full, multi-layered sound while maintaining the high energy found in their live performances. Thematically, the album spins around the Vonnegut-inspired idea of timeline hopping. The songs focus on loss, personal growth, and life lessons from the future, with sci-fi/pop culture references throughout. Striving for a raw, scopic listening experience, the album features a minimum of overdubs, including the instrumental "Hertzian Waves,” which was recorded in one take.
