The piano is the backbone. The drums then give it life. The first track musician Aaron Peterson created in a ‘goodtimes’ style was an experiment with Portland, OR hall of fame drummer Kip Richardson on what eventually became ‘Looking for Something.' Out of that blend of instrumentation of piano, brass, guitar, bass and Kip’s drumset, the dreamy soundscapes kept coming, and ‘classic’ was born. The EP was recorded in a home studio, with exception of the drum tracks recorded in Kip’s garage studio, using just 3 microphones. Whoever has said you need more than a few microphones to produce a whole record is wrong. Layered tracks of Aaron's playing piano, trumpet, euphonium, flute, guitar, bass & voice with Kip Richardson’s drum playing - the two thrived in this creative process and discovered musical parts of myself they hadn’t known. Guitarist Ryan Cron beefs up ‘Never Give Me’ with a gorgeous fuzzed out solo. For Aaron, finding the right project to commit to took a lot of years of searching for the right style, feel and aural aesthetic. Loose, impassioned, nostalgic & genuine.
