简介

Mojo Gumbo is a band that mixes different types of music to create its own special sound. Playing music from Louisiana and the Mississippi Delta it blends Zydeco, Cajun, New Orleans Funk, R & B and Blues into a delicious, unique musical flavor. Mike (The Professor) Brown was born on the banks of the dirty Chicago River. He was raised in the backwaters and swamps trapping and fishing with his father. Mike learned to appreciate the accordion from his mother’s side of the family who were part of the Polish immigration of the mid-1800’s. He learned piano at the hands of an old maid aunt and his mother’s encouragements via threats of regular beatings with a broom. He has been playing music since he was 6 years old and will continue until he is taken to his next big gig in the sky or is stopped by a court injunction. Steve (Scrapper) Brown was born on the banks of the mighty Mississippi River and raised in the brackish backwaters by his momma and poppa. He built his first guitar out of a hollow log, some dried alligator guts and some rusty screws. He taught himself to play by listening to performers at the Louisiana Hayride and the Grand Ol’ Opry on a little crystal radio he made in the Cub Scouts. By the age of 14 he was on the road playing the blues in juke joints all along the river. He has been working steadily ever since either fronting his own bands or backing famous and infamous artists, most recently, “The Swampy Bottom Blues Band.” Mark (The Rhythm Doctor) Clark was born on the banks of the Lost River in Kentucky. He was raised in the backwoods by Native Americans who taught him the primitive ways of the drum. He made his first drum from a hollow log and an old pair of leather pants someone left at Bannarroo. He has studied with many indigenous peoples around the world and when he can’t perform in concert halls he performs impromptu tone poems on the streets making music with what ever is available to him. Matt (Bootylicious) Knott was born on the banks of the White River. He was given his first bass when he was 2 years old and the bass was bigger than he was. He studied classically and performed in the Carmel Symphony before being shanghaied aboard a banana boat headed to Costa Rica. He worked as a musician in a dive bar called Nick’s until he was able to make his way back the states. He ended up in New Orleans where he worked as a waiter in a famous restaurant until an unfortunate incident with the owner’s wife and daughter forced him to leave town.
