简介
Following their critically acclaimed pop-tastic previous singles 'Snobs' (Lamacq's Alternative Single Of The Week), & 'Electrons and Particles' (Huw Stephen's 7" Of The Week) Birmingham's finest up and coming tour de force Computerclub are set to release their stunning debut album. 'Before The Walls Came Down' is out on 27th October 2008 through Split Records; the single, of the same name, precedes it a week earlier on 20th October 2008. 'Before The Walls Came Down' was written and recorded in an intense nine-day burst in Moles studio in Bath with acclaimed producer Paul Corkett (Radiohead, The Cure, Placebo). The album showcases the band's formidable talents as it also delves into deeper themes of friendship and sadness following the loss of drummer and best pal Steve Brookes (forced to retire following a crippling operation removing the cartilage in his hand). Encapsulating a darker and more reflective eighties-influenced melancholy the album show's their maturity in song-writing and style as they experiment with guitar loops and an old 62 bit drum machine - their songs soar and develop with an uplifting and ultimately positive feel. The band have developed an incredibly partisan following through major supports with: The Kooks, Editors, Alterkicks, Automatic, The Twang and played a headline, televised slot @ Iceland Airwaves Festival in Oct '07. Debut single 'Snobs' received excellent press including Music Week & Artrocker single reviews & a Fly live review. Follow up 'Electrons & Particles' received a number of Radio 1 plays from Lamacq & Huw Stephens and the video got an NME TV playlist & MTV2 spot plays. Touring the UK in support of the album in September/October/November '08 [see attached]
