In 2009 Ice Palace played nearly one hundred shows. The Minneapolis band lead by Adam Sorensen surged with snowballing momentum through three US tours supporting bands such as Cloud Cult, Margot and the Nuclear So and So’s and Say Hi. They recorded Daytrotter sessions and enjoyed a burgeoning local fan base as their song “Trampolining” was embraced by 89.3 The Current. Only a few months after the release of Ice Palace’s second album, “Wonder Subtly Crushing Us” Sorensen and his family uprooted to live on the edge of a mile high national forest in Prescott Arizona. Living there, two miles from their mailbox, with chickens, a windmill pumping their water and a view that went forever Sorensen realized the toll taken on him by the continuous line-up changes and months of hard traveling with Ice Palace. The silence of the Arizona high desert felt like heaven. ​
