Elvis' Space Opera is a unique group that is dedicated to the pursuit of sending Elvis (of Portland Saturday Market fame) to the far reaches of the universe. Not having a star ship handy, we figured that the only way to accomplish this goal was through music. So, Chris Newman (Boo Frog, Snow Bud and the Flower People, Napalm Beach) and Dean Fletcher teamed up to create some of the most unique music to be heard today. Using the various diatonic modes of the major scale, we have created a sense of motion between each song that is pure power. The studio setup is unique too. Chris plays a 1957 Fender custom shop Stratocaster and Fletcher plays an American Fender Telecaster. The amps are all tube low power amps: Fender 600 champ (Fletcher) and a Vox AC4 (Newman). These are then recorded with a quality stereo microphone straight into an Olympus LS-11. There are no effects, no pedals, nothing between the performance and the listener. It's pure organic music of the highest order. It's new. It's powerful. Enjoy the trip.
