简介
Aurelio Voltaire (formerly just "Voltaire") released his first album in 1989 on Projekt Records. That album, "The Devil's Bris" stands as a testament to Voltaire's staying power as a singer and songwriter, selling as strongly and consistently today as it did thirteen years ago. Ten full-length albums later, Voltaire continues releasing expertly crafted songs that are more often than not dark and humorous simultaneously. Now for the first time, listeners can get a sneak peek at the nascent beginnings of this iconic singer with the "Cave Canem Demos". Years before his first album was released, Voltaire wrote and recorded some of his most popular songs for a demo tape to sell at shows and to shop to labels. Back then he intended to form a band called "Cave Canem" (Beware of the Dog in Latin). Eventually, he chose to go by his middle name, the one word moniker, "Voltaire." By any name, the songs are some of the same that put him on the map early in his career. For the first time you can hear the origins of When You're Evil, Ex-Lover's Lover, Anniversary and others (Includes a somewhat warbled though very rare version of Raven's Land found on an old cassette tape!). Listeners will be surprised by the intimate take on these early recordings. Devoid of percussion and some featuring harpsichord, all offer a view into the beginnings of the artist who eventually came to be Aurelio Voltaire.
