With influences like Madlib, DJ Krush,and RZA- Relay takes a conceptual approach to hip hop tracks and looks for outside influences that can be flipped to his own style. "I like conceptual albums and themes - those kind pf things always caught my attention - so I try to aproach each project a little differently, give it a unique sound to fit with that experience.Music is life is music, so theres always something new to try. Prehension is like a time travel back to my younger days, like before I started school- real early days- I remember a lot of gray mornings and afternoons watching TV with my mom and she liked a lot of old mystery shows and movies, and Agatha Christie novels littered the house. So that atmosphere and sound was real strong growing up-I felt it was important to represent it. There was a dark atmosphere yet it still had the protective feel of childhood."
