简介
The musicians involved in realising this project read like a who’s who of traditional music’s great players from bands like Capercaillie, Flook! and Shooglenifty including Dezi Donnelly (fiddle), Ed Boyd (guitar), JonJoe Kelly (bodhran),Donald Shaw (keyboards), Ewen Vernal (bass), Parvinder Bharat (tabla), Neil Yates (trumpet), Manus Lunny (bouzouki) and James Mackintosh (drums). Also John McCusker (fiddle), Alison Brown (banjo) and the Scottish string ensemble bring their unique sound to the tracks. But it is McGoldrick himself who consolidates his reputation for creating ground-breaking music in this genre, with a recording that brings his lyrical and pulsating flute and pipe playing to the fore against a musical backdrop of mesmerizing grooves, sounds and attitude. Get connected now! The vocalist on Sophie's is a lady called Meena and the song is a spiritual chant called Maani which was recorded in Bangladesh – this was accidentally left off the album credits “[A] treasure-trove of gorgeous tunes, razor-sharp grooves and sublime playing… if there's any justice, Wired should be up for next year's Mercury Prize.” ***** Sunday Herald
