Oh, Jeremiah is moniker of singer/songwriter Jeremiah Stricklin. Hailing from Hattiesburg, MS, Stricklin has built his life around being, for lack of a better word, weird. For this reason, it wasn't a shock for anyone when Jeremiah found himself in a zoo with two llamas, a guitar, and a crew. "I knew when another day at the office was between two llamas and it made sense with what I was doing, I had something worth sharing" recalls Jeremiah on shooting the album cover. "One of the Llamas wouldn't stop spitting during the shoot and I was covered in alfalfa sprouts. As soon as we set up for the picture, one of the Llamas heaves alfalfa right into the trainers face. It was one of the greatest days of my life." The ambitious EP, Our Very Own Kingdom, begins with a wild rumpus into the great unknown on Two Animals. Filled with orchestral elements, narrative lyrics, and pumping drums, Jeremiah is leading each listener into his kingdom. Beautiful Monster, the first single from the record, is a radio-friendly story of relationship turmoil in a quirky light. Our narrator is trapped in a house with his lover, or monster, coming to take him over. "There you are, you stole my heart..you beautiful monster." Scenic Route is the upbeat, rock-infused anthem of coming of age with yourself and love. Instead of taking the straight and narrow, Stricklin proposes a journey down the road less travelled. Punching Bag, the fourth track on the record, is a fun and exciting acoustic driven song with more orchestral elements. There is a hint of anger in the lyrics that contradict the joyousness of the music itself. Perhaps Jeremiah is fighting with his emotions and the listener is the decider of which becomes triumphant. The epic closer, Brothers & Sisters, begins as a tender moment calling for love and respect for all people. Things pick up and we end with an enormous waltz led with harmonica, piano, and horns. Since the release of Stricklin's first release, Tall Tales and Tiny Fables, Oh, Jeremiah is finding his voice among the plethora of songwriters in our world. Our Very Own Kingdom is a first hand look at a man coming of age and sharing in his journey. "We stumbled into the great unknown."
