简介
Ghost Town is the project of Frank San Filippo, LA-based composer and bassist. Although primarily a vocal band now, Ghost Town was mostly instrumental on its first album, "Better Now," which is in the vein of Bill Frisell and Pat Metheney's Americana-influenced records. There are three vocal tunes on the first album, courtesy of Dead Rock West's Cindy Wasserman: the wistfully nostalgic "What's the Future Good For, Anyway?"; the traditional country tune "Walkin' After Midnight" presented as a jazz-inflected ballad; and the plaintive torch song, "Cold Outside." The rest of the songs are instrumentals, soundtracks for a movie that hasn't yet been shot. Helping out on the album are Bill Barrett on chromatic harmonica; Scot Ray, Dobro; Ken Lasaine, guitar; and Dave Kopplin, drums. Additionally, Wayne Peet lays down some organ on a few tracks, and fiddle-wunderkind Gabe Wicher (Beck, Jerry Douglas' band) show up on a couple tunes as well.
