Tipical is based in Portland, OR, and is a four-piece indie pop/rock band with roots in both the Brit-pop of Blur and Radiohead and the vast independent music scene of the USA (bands like Sonic Youth, Built to Spill, and Modest Mouse). The songs emphasize tight, full arrangements and philosophical, stream-of-consciousness lyrics (as well as perfectionist self-production). Their debut EP, You're An Impulse, plays like a variety showcase, 5 disparate songs tied together by their energetic vocals and expansive production.
