简介
Back to the Chaos is a compilation of songs written within the last 6 years by singer-songwriter Emily Chavez. Emily had plans to record an album back in August of 2014 - after being evacuated from her Peace Corps service in Sierra Leone due to the ebola epidemic on the rise in West Africa - though the recording process didn't commence until a year later. Seattle, WA embraced Emily once again and over the course of a year she dived into the unplanned purgatory of a returned Peace Corps volunteer in search of experience and direction. New exciting characters whirled through her life inspiring the momentum of songs such as Gravity and Pulling Threads. Other songs such as Love Potion, Sorry For Last Night, and the single Snake, took on elements of fantasy as Emily explored deeper into the symbolisms of love, trust, and wanting. Emily was reaccepted into the Peace Corps with a scheduled departure for Mozambique on September 21st, 2015. She dedicated her final months in Seattle to playing shows and connecting with fans and other local musicians. One month before leaving Seattle for her family's home in New Mexico, Emily found herself in the studio of engineer and filmmaker Timrek. Emily and Timrek dedicated themselves to producing Back to the Chaos in 4 weeks and in collaboration with 7 other musicians including Zach Schmidt and Spencer Freed of Zach's in County, Om Johari, cofounder of Hell's Belles, Mark Knowles of Nostalgist, 5-Track and Sheridan Riley of Glass Goblins, and trumpet player Dale Warshaw. Back to Chaos is scheduled for release the day before Emily departs to Mozambique for 27 months.
