简介
This is my first album. It contains the best instrumental music I have written through the year 2010. I will leave here some chronological notes. Nocturne was the first song I ever wrote, I was in college and sad about a girl who did not like me. It was my second year in college. A year later, I wrote Santa Barbara Song. I was dwelling on how sad it seemed that we needed to work so hard and endure stress, and that we could not just live a simpler life. I wrote Hope near the beginning of graduate school. I was filled with great dreams and inspiration for the future. I wrote Jeanette's theme about a year later, after a phone conversation with a girl of the same name. We felt a mutual attraction but nothing ever worked out. Several years later, while working at Internet companies, I wrote The Voice Within. At that time I was deeply into yoga and hiking, and I was very happy. I think this song shows my great happiness. I later dedicated it to a friend who was one of my housemates at the time. About two years later I wrote Desert Sands. I had recently become a first-year high school teacher, a very challenging job. I think this piece reflects the tension and difficulty I was going through. I wrote Fallen Soldier about six years ago while traveling. About four years ago I was returning to yoga. It was having a great effect on me. At the same time I had a friend who was in need at the time, and I was moved by his situation. These two influences inspired me to write Sleep Theme, which I first wrote on the piano at my friend's house. Most recently, in 2010 I wrote Voyage, which was inspired by the movie Dances With Wolves. That is all I can say for now. Thank you for listening. Jon
