简介
2007 saw the triumphant resurrection of The Holy Sea as they returned from a five-year hiatus to release their acclaimed second album A Beginner’s Guide to the Sea. A heartfelt tribute to love lost, set amidst the ever present Australian landscape, A Beginner’s Guide saw The Holy Sea hailed as one of the most thoughtful and distinctive voices in the Australian musical terrain. In January 2009 the band was personally invited by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds to perform at the inaugural Australian All Tomorrow’s Parties festival. Now The Holy Sea return with a new AA-single, offering a tantalising glimpse of their forthcoming album Ghosts of the Horizon. Reuniting with producer David McCluney (Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds/Kim Salmon), The Holy Sea have produced their most ambitious work to date. If A Beginner’s Guide traced a path from Perth to Melbourne, from purity of heart to heartbreak, Ghosts of the Horizon traverses Australia’s colonial history: from the arrival of James Cook through to the 2004 death in custody of Mulrunji Doomadgee. Ghosts of the Horizon explores our shared history as an unfolding psychology that speaks through our accents, our actions and our very being. It does not dwell on the past, but calls attention to its ghosts in order to bring them into the open; asking the listener how we see our place in the world and how we wish to move forward as a community. Available as a limited edition CD-single, Bad Luck/King of Palm Island includes two exclusive b-sides: live favourties Jezebel and St. Thomas Sound.
