简介
by Alex HendersonCommercial "pop-rappers" like England's Betty Boo get little respect from rap's hardcore, which tends to be suspicious of any type of success in the pop or dance-music markets. Clever and witty, the dance-oriented Boomania underscores the fact that not all pop-rappers are created equal -- "Doin' the Do," "Hey DJ (I Can't Dance to the Music You're Playing)," and other melodic, escapist club hits have a lot more bite and substance than the music of Vanilla Ice and Icy Blu. Boo, a white female with a sexy "glamour girl" image, keeps things fun and lighthearted, and makes no pretense of being a hardcore rapper. As much promise as Boo showed on this album, she wasn't someone who could count on longevity -- and was pretty much forgotten a few years later.
