He laid the groundwork and then harvested the players from the cream of the crop of the rust-belt to make a hectic and wild album that sprouts with the downhome 'Old Man and the Stick' grows thru acousti-pop ballads like 'Angels and Alibis' and then pinnacles with the psychedelic emotional mind-trip of Toy Upon The Stairs. He is such a fan of his regional scene from Toledo to Detroit that he wrote a slew of songs just to have a bucketful of his favorite players all guest on one album all at once. And this is it! the rules were simple; make an album that sounds like a roomful of friends keeping it small. No effects or weird bleeps, just cool mandolins and guitars and harmonicas and percussion and ...well, yall get it.
