简介

Seventh Wonder was formed in 2000 by bass player Andreas Blomqvist, guitarist Johan Liefvendahl and drummer Johnny Sandin after their previous band fell apart. The music turned towards the progressive side of metal and as the band was joined by keyboard player Andreas “Kyrt” Söderin late 2000, the new sound was cemented further. Two demos were recorded, the first in 2001 (Seventh Wonder) and the second in 2003 (Temple In The Storm), both of which received good press. Many singers have come and gone in Seventh Wonder over the years, among others Ola Halén of power metal band Insania Sthlm. The longest living member in the past was Andi Kravljaca (ex: Heave, Elsesphere), and it was with Andi at the microphone that the band recorded their debut album Become (released in 2005), after landing a record deal with Finland’s Lion Music. Become was well received by the press and top scores were given everywhere. However, the band parted ways with Andi shortly after the recording process had ended and once more the search for a singer started…The brilliant Tommy Karevik (ex: Vindictiv) was spotted and he joined the band in 2005, actually prior to the release of Become. The new album entitled “Waiting In The Wings” was recorded in 2006 and was mixed and mastered by legendary Tommy Hansen (Helloween, T.N.T) and engineered by Daniel Flores (Mind’s Eye) and Seventh Wonder. Seventh Wonder, currently signed to Intromental Management are now looking forward to get out and play as much as possible and show the world the incredible treasure their music constitutes! “Waiting In The Wings” is home to nine tacks spanning a wide musical landscape. Even more so than ‘Become’ did. The most significant difference of this album when compared to Become is definitely the entrance of Tommy behind the microphone. He is something as extraordinary as a totally unique singer. The songs are long and short, fast and slow, soft and heavy and above all else damn good! The band did everything they wanted on this album and it shows throughout giving the album longterm appeal for the listener. “Waiting In The Wings” is set to break Seventh Wonder to the masses. Waiting In The Wings –in my words -by Andreas Blomqvist, bass What’s new The first thing that comes to mind when asked to describe the new Seventh Wonder album Waiting In The Wings is of course Tommy. This man is gonna shred any conception you might have had about what you can do with vocals in a metal band. The most suitable word for Tommy is unique. He’s simply one of a kind. Aside from that I guess the biggest difference when compared to Become is the production. Perhaps we bit more than we could chew when we wanted to mix the first album ourselves. Seeing the world famous Tommy Hansen put his magic to work on our songs also brings them to a new level. It’s got the modern compressed sound, but we still differ a lot from the mainstream mixes. Everyone in the band is still there and it’s still organic –just the way we want it! Style I think that we technically surpass everything we’ve done so far on this album when it comes to difficulty of execution, but at the same time I think we have used such passages with a little more finesse and thought this time. Songs The album is nine tracks this time and contains more music than Become did. We have pretty much everything we want to do covered on this album. The pounding, heavy songs with the great choruses by Johan, the long and epic stuff, as the 9 minutes plus title track, by me and the strange, mesmerizing melodies of Tommy and the movie score-like passages by Kyrt (Andreas S). The true trademark of our sound still being Johnny’s drumming and man is he all over the place! Writing the record As Tommy joined the band even before Become was even released we were very anxious to get this release out as soon as possible, you know just to show the world what we are like now and that we can do even better! We had one whole and two half songs done after Become was recorded. From that time on we spent the remainder of 2005 writing what was to become Waiting In The Wings. Lyrics The lyrics are handled by Tommy and me, and I can tell you right away that there is no omnipresent theme here or anything like that. Each song is its own entity. Without really thinking about it, I can still say that we kept true to how we’ve done it before. Some stories are pure fiction, some more reality based and some might be more thoughtful. The lyrics are very important to us so we put lots of time on getting it right. Tommy and I usually help each other out a bit as well... A very important note: Seventh Wonder will NEVER be a political band. We will never take a stand for what You have to think or do, and this is simply because we are too different as individuals ourselves, plus the fact that we like to let music be music, and nothing else. In summary I think you have a killer album in your hands. This is a far more mature record than anything we’ve done before. The sound is great, the packaging is fantastic and the songs will blow you away!
